Dignity, Always Dignity — Director

Currently in development with PlayMakers Repertory Company (Chapel Hill, NC) and Long Wharf Theatre (New Haven, CT) • Starring Bryce Pinkham • Featured in Reuters

“Bryce Pinkham… is working on Dignity, Always Dignity, an adaptation of the musical Singin' in the Rain for times of climate crisis. Expected to be staged in Connecticut next year, the production aims to be carbon neutral and socially inclusive. Its music director is Rona Siddiqui, whose father is Afghan. She describes herself as a climate justice warrior, and is making musical instruments out of reclaimed or ‘found’ objects. ‘We are talking about head-on the social implications. Whiteness. Capitalism. The effects. And then how do we adapt?’ she said.”

A post-apocalyptic cabaret starring Tony Award-nominee Bryce Pinkham as a guy stuck on an island…of his own making. To pass the time he attempts to perform the entirety of Singin’ in the Rain before the waters swallow him up. With props, scenery, and scene partners made of the repurposed materials around him - he makes his way through what he can remember as best he can — singing and dancing his way towards the impossible! Soon he too will be gone. But before he disappears, he’s determined to leave something behind: a message in a bottle filled with a story of hope, for a new world.
